Keywords: Transferable skills: Safety

Alarm fatigue is an ever-present problem in healthcare today, and MR technologists are not exempt from being affected by it. Ferromagnetic detection systems are one culprit responsible for alarm fatigue. Understanding how to use ferromagnetic detection systems to identify how well your screening processes are upstream, combined with well-defined MR Safety policies and procedures, and a ferrous free zone III, not only reduces alarms in MR departments, but reduces alarm fatigue which then creates the desired outcome of having a pause or stop when an alarm is present to identify the cause of the alarm.

Bread & Butter vs Future Neuroimaging
C. C. Tchoyoson Lim

Keywords: Neuro: Brain, Education Committee: Clinical MRI

This presentation describes the traumatic CNS injury and neuropsychiatric diseases that are routinely studied by MRI in a busy trauma hospital. CT is the standard of care for acute traumatic brain injury, but increasingly, MRI is being performed in certain patients. Patients with psychiatric symptoms or altered mental status may be challenging. Patient positioning and protocol modification in unstable or restless patients will also be discussed.

DIFFUSION TENSOR IMAGING IN CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME - TECHNICAL ASPECTS AND QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS
Hoang Ngoc Thanh

Keywords: Image acquisition: Image processing

The median nerve has been one of the first peripheral nerves extensively studied using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). DTI shows promise in diagnosing and monitoring carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), especially in cases without obvious compression. This presentation aims to review the technical aspects of DTI and quantitative analysis of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel.

In Italy  the Healthcare System is Public. The Population is 59,11 millions (2021), 39%  are affected by a chronic disease and the main causes of death are due circulatory system 37.49%, and tumors 30.36%.
In Italy there are a total of 1572 MRI scanner. Accessibility to the MRI is guaranteed within 72 hours for urgent services, and within 90 days for programmable exams.
The main field of research for radiographer is on artifact reduction, like the post-processing software O.P.E.R.A. Orthogonal-Phase-Encoding-Reduction-Artifact. It works on DICOM images and doesn't need hardware modifications, hence it could be used on different MR scanner.
