Preparing and delivering a PowerPoint presentation is important in our research career. It helps us to better share our work with people in the field and will benefit our future research in return. This talk will try to share some ideas on how to prepare a presentation. It will be based on personal experiences and I will try to use “bad” examples to show what is better. The basic idea here is “less is more” and the goal is to keep your audience awake and excited. It will cover the following contents:
1. PowerPoint Basics: how to design and make a clear and concise slide.
2. Storytelling: how to structure your talk.
3. Language: how to deliver ideas more clearly if you are a non-native speaker.
