Synopsis

Keywords: Contrast mechanisms: Diffusion, Neuro: Brain, Physics & Engineering: Pulse design

This educational talk explains the basics of diffusion MRI, focusing on how water moves in tissues and the acquisition, analysis, and artifacts of diffusion MRI scans. Participants will learn about diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) for mapping brain tracts. By the end, they'll understand these MRI techniques and their applications in clinical and research contexts.

Objectives

This talk has three main objectives:
1) Understand the fundamental principles of diffusion MRI, including the movement of water molecules in tissues, the process of acquisition, and common artifacts encountered in diffusion MRI scans.
2) Explore the application of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in mapping white matter tracts in the brain and comprehend its significance in clinical diagnostics and research studies.
3) Gain practical knowledge on analyzing diffusion MRI data, identifying and mitigating artifacts, and utilizing diffusion MRI techniques effectively in both clinical and research settings.
