Synopsis
Keywords: Neuro: Brain, Contrast mechanisms: Perfusion, Education Committee: Clinical MRI
Commonly used pulse sequences for contrast-enhanced MRI in brain tumors will be discussed in this lecture. Knowledge of underlying mechanism of contrast-enhanced MRI enhance our ability in diagnosis of brain tumors.
The commonly used pulse sequences for magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of the brain tumor will be discussed in this study. This course will first discuss contrast-enhanced GRE imaging, TSE imaging, and FLAIR imaging, and its benefits and pitfalls in brain tumor imaging. Then, perfusion imaging, namely dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) and dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) imaging will be discussed. Knowledge of the underlying mechanism of these sequences allows us for a better diagnosis of brain tumors. Acknowledgements
