Synopsis

This lecture is an introduction to the outline of Japanese MRI Technologist. That is, most Japanese MRI technologist work in hospitals as a radiological technologist. Clinical MRI examinations in Japan are very popular; therefore, almost all MRI technologist in hospital are very busy. MRI Technologists’ academic activities are joining the association, congress, and submitting the papers. I introduce the Japanese MR research including my study. Fujita Health University is just starting new initiatives. “Cooperation between the university and the affiliated hospital”. I strongly hope that Japanese MRI Technologists will continue research that can contribute to medical treatment.

Japanese MRI Technologists

This lecture is an introduction to the outline of Japanese MRI Technologist. Please note that this content contains my own views with my research. Japanese MRI Technologists are radiological technologist, faculty, researchers, and MRI equipment manufacturers. Most Japanese MRI Technologists are radiological technologist. That is, they work in hospitals. Clinical MRI examinations in Japan are very popular and there are many examinations. Some facilities work from early morning to late night or patients may wait a long time until the reservation date. Therefore, almost all MRI technologist in hospital are very busy. They should perform their research after work or on holidays. They are doing research while doing their daily work and management. MRI technologist who want to conduct clinical research have various considerations. Providing useful information for clinical questions, useful information for patients, and diagnosis. Providing information for MR safety management In Japan, there are many radiological technologists who go on to graduate school while working.

MRI Research

Main research contents are, scan parameter optimization, reproducibility, evaluation (verification) of new technique, new imaging method, creating support tools, evaluation of contrast effect, image assessment, acquisition of reference data, improvement of diagnostic ability, improvement of visibility, etc. I'll introduce a few examples from my papers including liver study.

Academic Activities

MRI Technologists' academic activities are joining the association, congress, and submitting the papers. Main academic organizations (MRI related) are the Japan Association of Radiological Technologist (JART), the Japanese Society of Radiological Technology (JSRT), and the Japanese Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (JSMRM). Magnetic Resonance Technological Specialist is one of the status of the Japanese MRI Technologists.

Future Overview

Fujita Health University is just starting new initiatives. “Cooperation between the university and the affiliated hospital”. Purpose is promotion of clinical research to contribute to hospitals and medical care. University faculty are involved in the hospital as a clinical study with clinical and radiological approval. I strongly hope that Japanese MRI Technologists will continue research that can contribute to medical treatment.
