Synopsis

MRI contrast agent application has played a key role in vascular disease diagnosis from its early adoption in dynamic MR angiography to recent applications in a wide range of vascular disease: such as atherosclerosis, aneurysm, and vasculitis. Imaging techniques including analysis tools have also advanced to improve data acquisition, quantitation, and analysis. This talk will introduce several contrast agent applications in vascular disease and the technical advancement.

This talk will introduce several contrast agent applications in vascular disease and the related technical advancement. Using pathology of atherosclerotic disease as background, this talk will describe contrast enhancement mechanism in vessel wall first. Both pre- and post-contrast and dynamic contrast quantitative evaluation approaches to assess different aspects of vascular disease, will be discussed along with techniques developed for quantitation, validation, and image quality improvement. Contrast enhancement application in vascular disease has extensive clinical applications and potentials for future advancement.
