Synopsis

This presentation will outline the physical chemical and physical basis for nanoparticle contrast agent development, modification, and detection for imaging by MRI. Several emerging nanoparticle agents will be discussed in detail.

Overview

This presentation will outline the physical chemical and physical basis for nanoparticle contrast agent development, modification, and detection for imaging by MRI. Topics include considerations for delivery and detection, with an emphasis on the origins of nanoscale magnetism and on understanding the the background contrast properties of the target tissue. New successful nanoparticle agents will be described as examples covering several target pathologies and organs.
