Prostate MRI has evolved from a research technique used in few specialized academic centers to a central pillar in the quest for minimizing overdiagnosis of low-risk cancers and maximizing the detection of clinically-significant disease. Extracting the maximum utility from prostate MRI relies on exploiting hardware and software capabilities to produce the best possible images. As options expand it becomes increasingly difficult to keep up to date with what optimal state of the art protocols should include. The aim of this session is to provide a summary of the latest technical considerations to optimize prostate MRI protocols.
