The talk will give an introduction to machine learning and explore opportunities to exploit the technology in MRI development and application.
My talk will give an overview of opportunities that machine learning offers in medical imaging, particularly MRI.
I will start with an overview of machine learning and key techniques. I'll give a brief introduction to supervised learning - classification, regression, etc. - and unsupervised learning - clustering. I'll talk about specific popular techniques: logistic regression, support vector machines, kernel methods, random forests, and deep neural networks. Then I'll highlight opportunities these methods afford in imaging and image analysis. This will include image reconstruction, biophysical modelling, image analysis - segmentation, registration, and computer assisted diagnosis/prognosis.
